A family of five with a passion for art and design moved in 2016 into an amazing house built specifically to their liking. It was a project done by Padovani Arquitetos Associados . The house is located in Brazil and is the very definition of contemporary design. It has a minimalist appearance inside and out, featuring clean, straight lines and a light and fresh look which takes advantage of the natural light and immediate surroundings in a very expressive manner.
Concrete, glass and wood are the main materials used throughout the house
The house is organized into two main volumes, a private one and a leisure and service area
Sliding wood panels and glass doors create barriers between the indoor and the outdoor spaces
The kitchen window is small compared to the others but the space compensates for that with a skylight
The main challenge for the architects was to create a design which is practical, family-friendly and which also reflects the owners’ passion for art and contemporary design in general. The balanced was achieved through a carefully selected array of materials, finishes, forms and colors. Large windows and full glass walls bring the outdoors in and at the same time expose the interior design, revealing certain key features such as the sculptural concrete and metal staircase.
The staircase connecting the two floors is positioned on the outer edge, parallel to a huge glass wall
The full glass walk-in shower keeps the bathroom looking open and spacious while the windows high on the wall maintain the privacy
The rear side of the house is open towards an infinity edge swimming pool framed by a sleek patio
The front of the house is open towards a manicured garden with a palm tree
The living area is infused with colorful contemporary art pieces and eye-catching sculptures
The metal staircase is attached to a reinforced concrete structure and completely exposed to the exterior through a glass wall
